Title: AUTOMATIC CONCAVITY'S AREA CALCULATION USING ACTIVE CONTOURS AND INCREASING FLOW
Authors: Nikolay Metodiev Sirakov; Texas A&M University-Commerce
Abstract: The present paper develops an approach capable of automatically calculating area and length of boundary concavities of image regions. The contribution of this work is the application of an active convex hull, and active contour models with increasing dimension of the normal flow, employed to determine the above geometric features at the time of convergence. The method can handle images of different nature, modalities and varying sizes. To validate the theoretical concepts a set of experiments is performed using synthetic and medical images.
